How this site is funded,
This website has been setup by me to inform people of the best way to save as much money as possible, all the tips that are on this site, have been checked by me and they do work,
to help you I have put in clickable links, which will direct you straight to the website described in the text where the link is, I had the option to sponsor the website by Google adwords but I think it spoils the look of the website, so I have decided to go with 1 affiliate link (homepages friends), I will earn a very small amount of money, thanks in advance, I hope you save as much as I have.
knowledge is power.
As you may of guessed from the name of the website, "moneysavingnewbie.com", I have come to computers late on in life, I was given an old 600 MHz Pentium 3 computer, and I have only had it for 6 months, and only been online for the same amount of time, the learning curve I have under gone is quite staggering, as I am self taught and still have a lot to learn.
I have decided to put together all the knowledge I have gained about saving money online in one easy to read guide, enjoy.
FACT
The average UK household has about £50 of spare change just lying around.
All of us have a penny jar right?
I had one also until last week, I always put off counting my change, as it is just a thankless task, and you have to drag it to the bank, wait in a huge queue, only to be told they only take 5 bags at a time.
My local Morrisons recently acquired a new Coinstar machine in store, what a great idea, other supermarkets are also starting to get the machines,
ASDA
Sainsburys
Tesco's
The Co operative group,
Unfortunately though they do charge a small fee of 7.9% of the total amount, it only took me about 15 minutes to empty my penny jar filled with 1p's, 2p's,and 5p's, all that added up to the princely sum of £49.68 after the sorting fee had been removed (the sorting fee came to £4.26)
This is the breakdown of about a years collecting,
5p x 655
2p x 683
1p x 723
I also threw in 1 x 10p & 1 x 20p to see if it would find them and in did, the machine does sort the coins really quickly up to 600 per minute, and it returned only a handful of suspect coins, these were mainly newly minted coins.
I have also heard on a forum that HSBC banks have them but I haven't been able to find any other information about this, I also heard that they don't charge a fee either.
Click on the link below to find you nearest machine.

There is a slight teething problem with the particular machine I used, you do have to get the voucher redeemed on the day you got it, unfortunately though the checkout girl didn't know how to do it, so I ended up standing there with the light flashing, then I found out that the till will only cash out up to £30, any higher and a supervisor has to put a code into the till, other than that small issue everything worked perfectly.
A very easy £50
